One reason for this knowledge gap is that, in the United States, cannabis was classified as a Schedule I substance for decades, which significantly limited research and discouraged academic institutions from incorporating cannabinoid science and Endocannabinoid System (ECS) biology into medical education.

- 1964 — THC first isolated by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam and Dr. Yechiel Gaoni
- 1992 — The first endocannabinoid (anandamide) discovered by Dr. William Devane and Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, leading to the identification of the Endocannabinoid System.
This created a gap between what products were available and what it may actually take to support and modulate the Endocannabinoid System in a meaningful way.

Built From a Personal Mission
ECS Therapy began with a deeply personal mission.
Jerry Flowers began studying the Endocannabinoid System while searching for ways to support his mother’s health challenges.
She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2010 and pancreatic cancer in 2012.
She ultimately became the first person he formulated for, helping shape the approach that would later become the foundation of ECS Therapy.
Through years of research and real-world collaboration, more than 2,000 formulations were developed through evaluation and feedback.

The formulations in Phase 1 represent more than four years of research, formulation development, and real-world evaluation before being prepared for release.
Every ECS Therapy formulation is developed through a structured process combining research, formulation science, and real-world evaluation.
Refine and Repeat
Based on this feedback, the formulation is adjusted to improve effectiveness or balance as new research and insights emerge.
This cycle of refinement continues until both the evaluator and the formulator determine that further adjustments are no longer necessary.
Expanded Evaluation
Once the evaluator is satisfied, the formulation is introduced to additional participants through the dispensary to gather broader real-world feedback and continues to be refined until it passes final validation.
Final Validation
If 80% or more participants report at least 8/10 positive feedback in the targeted support areas without adverse side effects, the formulation is considered ready and may move forward as an ECS Therapy supplement.
